Nitish Kumar Reddy, the Indian star all-rounder, is likely to miss the Test series against Sri Lanka . Team India is set to play a Test Series against Sri Lanka from 15 August 2026. Under the captaincy of Shubman Gill, India is set to play two Test matches against Sri Lanka in August . The first Test Match will take place from 15 August to 19 , while the other Test Match will be played in Colombo from 23 August to 27 .

According to Cricbuzz reports, Nitish Reddy has been working on his fitness in Bengaluru at the BCCI’s Center of Excellence, which offers a high-class training and rehabilitation facility. The 23-year-old all-rounder has been working on his left quadriceps injury (thigh muscle strain) he got in an ODI match against Afghanistan. The BCCI is monitoring his injury and working to get him injury-free before cricket matches.

Current reports state that Nitish Kumar Reddy is working hard on his overall fitness, but there is still no date for when he will return to the cricket field.

Nitish Kumar Reddy has missed the India tour of England, and his absence hurt India a lot against Ireland when Indian all-rounder Shivam Dube failed to take wickets and didn’t score runs when India needed them. The presence of Nitish Kumar Reddy can make a big difference against Ireland.

Nitish Reddy’s battle with injuries is a long story

Nitish Reddy last played an international match against Afghanistan on 26 June 2026, where he hit his Maiden ODI half-century; his happiness did not last long, as he suffered a left quadriceps injury in that ODI series. He has picked up wickets for India in crucial moments, which gives him an edge over other players. Reddy can bowl with a decent pace of 130+ km/h, but his sharp swing of the ball in and out makes it difficult for batters to read.

Reddy last played a Test Match against South Africa in late November 2025. After that, Reddy did not get much chance in Test cricket, and his injuries to his legs made his return to Test cricket more difficult. Reddy had a lot of potential to become an all-rounder, but his battles with injury made it difficult for him to play cricket.
