Subhadeep Ghosh, India’s new fielding coach
Subhadeep Ghosh had spent his entire career at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. He had worked as the fielding coach for KKR and DC in the IPL . He guided the Indian women’s cricket team as fielding coach and worked with fresh talents in U-19, leading India to win gold at the Asian Games.
A former player for Assam and the Railways . He had played a significant number of matches for Assam and Railways. Ghosh is a well-experienced player with decades of experience as a fielding coach. His first major assignment will be the India tour of Sri Lanka, where India has to play a 2-Test series. India has been criticized for poor fielding, as it struggles to take easy catches. He will bring a new tactic and new reforms to make India’s fielding reach new levels .
Why BCCI fired T Dilip as fielding coach
India had a humiliating T20 series against England, where India fielders dropped a laddo catch (easy and simple catches) . India combined had dropped 11 catches in India’s tour of England, which later hammered India’s hopes of winning the match . India got a 4-0 whitewash in the Tour. India had set records in dropping catches under his watch.
T Dilip’s contract with the BCCI expires on 8 June 8, 2026. The BCCI has not renewed the contract due to his poor performance as fielding coach. T Dilip took charge as fielding coach for India in November 2021; under his watch, India’s fielding was downgraded.
