Josh Hazlewood claimed six wickets against Bangladesh in the opening Test. He has produced some brilliant spells of bowling and was instrumental in leading his side to a comprehensive victory. He became the seventh Australian paceman to claim more than 300 Test wickets. In his bowling session, Hazlewood bowled 28 overs, gave out 89 runs, and took 6 wickets.

Hazlewood is one of a handful of current Australian players to have taken 300 Test wickets, together with compatriots Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Nathan Lyon. This feat places him in an elite club of bowlers in the history of Australian cricket. Hazlewood joins teammates Nathan Lyon, Pat Cummins, and Mitchell Starc in the Test-300 club. They are the first Test attack in history to play together after both reached 300 wickets.

Josh Hazlewood joins the elite bowling legends.

Only three of the nine Australians with 300 or more Test wickets have a higher bowling average than Hazlewood’s 24.02. Glenn McGrath tops the list with 21.64, followed by Cummins at 22.21 and Dennis Lillee at 23.92. With a score of 24.02, Josh Hazlewood ranks 4th on the list, ahead of the other five club members. Now, Hazlewood stands with 301 wickets in his 76 Test matches, including a bowling average of 24.02.

Josh Hazlewood’s feelings on reaching 300 wickets were mixed, as he didn’t think about such milestones during the game but was thrilled to have achieved what McGrath and Cummins have done in their careers.

“You don’t think about those sort of milestones when you’re out there. I guess it’s something you maybe think about when you retire.”

“I guess to see the other names there, and I’m playing with three of them; it’s pretty cool,” he stated when talking to Kayo Sports.

Josh Hazelwood returns to the Australian squad after a hamstring strain.

Due to hamstring and Achilles injuries, Josh Hazlewood has played only 6 Test matches out of 14 for Australia. Due to Hazelwood’s long recovery from injuries and his limited availability, there was discussion about whether he should be selected for the first Test in Darwin.

There were worries about Josh Hazlewood, but the selectors stuck with him, and he answered with six wickets to settle any doubts about his form and fitness. Starting the game five wickets short of 300, he concluded with 301 Test wickets for his career after reaching and then passing the milestone in one innings. The manner in which he returns will only boost his case for selection as Australia moves forward in the series against Bangladesh.
